Green Grinches

The kickoff for the FIRST Robotics 2007 Tournament was held on Saturday, January 6. The kickoff is broadcast live worldwide on NASA digital TV to 1800 robotics teams in 80 countries. During the kickoff telecast FIRST President Paul Gudonis specifically spoke about the Green Grinches, a Girl Scout robotics team from Vancouver, WA. He referenced the team's motto "Whoever said 'may the best man win', never asked a girl to play." A full screen photo of the girls and their team banner was featured in the telecast.

This group of girls has been in Girl Scouting together since Daisies.
This is their last year in Girl Scouts and their last year in robotics.
Here's wishing them good luck in their final season! They are really hoping to make it to Nationals this year.

If anyone is interested, I have a DVD the girls made about their experiences as a robotics team and as Girl Scouts. Also, you can view the telecast (it is long) at http://robotics.arc.nasa.gov/events/2007_kickoff.php.

By the way - the team is selling "Whoever said 'may the best man win', never asked a girl to play" t-shirts (blue w/ hot pink lettering) to raise money for their team. If you want one, email Teri Wegman at apb_teri03@hotmail.com.
