Asian American Engineer of the Year Award Banquet
Hosted by CIE/USA
CIE/USA is privileged to co-sponsor National Engineers Week 2002 and work with other national level engineering societies to plan and develop many exciting programs. A highlight of the E-Week 2002 celebration in the Dallas/Fort Worth area is the Asian American Engineer of the Year Award Banquet hosted by CIE/USA, to be held on Saturday, February 23, 2002, from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm at the Renaissance Dallas North Hotel in Dallas.
Thomas Wu, Chairman of the CIE/USA National Council and Board Member of the National Engineers Week Steering Committee, is excited about the upcoming banquet. This Asian American Engineer of the Year Award Banquet is the first national level award program in conjunction with National Engineers Week 2002 to celebrate and recognize the great contribution of Asian American professionals and engineers in the United States, said Wu in an announcement. In addition to the Award Banquet to be held on February 23, 2002, CIE/USA has also worked very closely with IEEE-USA in promoting
ZOOM into Engineering which is a joint program of National Engineers Week and WGBH-Public Television, Boston.
Zoom into Engineering was designed to promote an interest in math, science, and engineering for children ages 6-11. A national Train-the-Trainers seminar to introduce the ZOOM Into Engineering materials and how to use them took place in Washington DC on October 15; participants from that conference held a local training session in Dallas on December 5, 2002, at the TI Forest Lane site. Engineers demonstrated the activities, materials and instructions that are available to bring the
ZOOM Into Engineering message to the community.

Additionally, CIE/USA will also support the National Engineers Week Future City
Competition program. This program is a National Engineers Week program for seventh and eighth-grade students to foster interest in math, science and engineering through hands-on, real world applications. The competition is open to all public, private, and parochial schools in selected areas. The Special Awards and the Future City Competition National Finals will be held on February 20, 2002, in Washington D.C. CIE/USA is one of the proud sponsors for this great event.
