The global outreach of Engineers Week 2005 also extends to the Future City Competition. Middle schools in Japan have been holding Future City Competitions for the past few years. In February, the winning team of the Japan Future City Competition traveled to the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, Virginia, to view the U.S. competition. The students are from Shotoku Gakuen Junior High School in Tokyo.
