Engineers Nominated by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers

Lauren JacksonLauren Jackson

Lauren Jackson, a process engineer with CH2M HILL Engineers Inc. in Spartanburg, South Carolina, has projects that include a plant that will convert molasses to ethanol for fuel and one that will create polymer for “green” carpet out of corn syrup rather than the conventional petrochemical process. As a member of the design team on a polysilicate plant in Russia, she successfully completed two tasks that stretched her capabilities and demonstrated her leadership: interpreting Russian fire codes and completing a complex set of calculations designed to establish an explosion index. In 2009, Jackson submitted her first proactive value engineering solution to a client resulting in a $98,000 savings.

Jackson is an active member of the Jaycees and Toastmasters International. She also volunteers with Habitat for Humanity, CH2M HILL’s Relay for Life team, and works as a passionate volunteer with Guardian Ad Litem as an advocate for children in family court proceedings. She holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of South Carolina.
