Veronica I. Arreola Veronica I. Arreola has worked for over a decade on gender equity issues in the sciences. Arreola spent her undergraduate years as a National Science Foundation intern at Chicago's Field Museum of Natural History in the Fishes Division studying fish locomotion. She presented her research at professional conferences and published her findings in the Proceedings of the Royal Society. Arreola now directs the Women in Science & Engineering program at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She coordinates the peer mentoring, residence hall and monthly seminar series initiatives. Arreola serves on a variety of boards including the Advocacy Council for Women Employed, a Chicago-based organization that works to improve the economic status of women and remove barriers to economic equity. Arreola sees careers in science & engineering as one path towards economic equity for women and girls. Arreola holds a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and a masters degree in Public Administration, both with concentrations in Gender & Women's Studies and both from UIC. « back |
