Xiyan (Ashley) Shi, Ph.D. Sr. Network Engineer, Advanced Internet Technology Verizon Business Dr. Shi is a Sr. Network Engineer with Verizon Business in the Advanced Internet Technology department in Ashburn, Virginia. She works on the Very-high-performance Backbone Network Service - Plus (vBNS+). The vBNS+ is a high performance, Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) network providing low latency, low loss, low jitter, and support for large end-to-end IP data flows. Dr. Shi provides network design, certification/proof-of-concept testing for existing and new network features deployed on the vBNS+. She designed and implemented IP QoS on the vBNS+ network. She has been with Verizon business Since January 2000. Prior to joining Verizon Business, Dr. Shi worked at Newbridge Networks, Inc. R&D department. During her four years at the Newbridge, Dr. Shi designed and implemented proxy ARP functionality on the Newbridge product router server. She also developed routing protocol RIPv2 used on the Newbridge router server. Dr. Shi received a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics from University of Science and Technology of China. She received her Masters of Science in Computer Sciences and Doctorate degrees in Applied Mathematics from the Johns Hopkins University. |
