Andrea Reitzel Advisory Engineer, Advanced Internet Technology Verizon Business Andrea Reitzel is an Advisory Engineer with Verizon Business in the Advanced Internet Technology department in Ashburn, Virginia. She works on the Very-high-performance Backbone Network Service - Plus (vBNS+). The vBNS+ is a high performance, Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) network providing low latency, low loss, low jitter, and support for large end-to-end IP data flows. She provides network design and certification testing for existing and new network features deployed on the vBNS+. Recently she has been involved in engineering support for IPv6 Layer 3 Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) and transitioning the network to a new OC-192 backbone. She has been with Verizon Business since October 1999. Prior to joining Verizon Business, Andrea worked at the MITRE Corporation. During her five years at MITRE she worked on a variety of advanced networking projects such as IPv6, multicast, and the use of ATM encryption. She helped deploy several of the technologies in an operational environment. In addition, she spent several years managing a protocol testing laboratory at the Corporation for Open Systems. Ms. Reitzel received her Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Delaware. She has spoken at the IPv6 Forum, the DoD Research and Engineering Network Conferences, and participates in IPv6 policy as a member of ARIN |
