Doris PeelDoris Peel is a Senior Engineer for Verizon Business’s Advanced Internet Technology group and supports the Very-high performance Backbone Network Service (vBNS+).  The vBNS+ is a private network that supports leading-edge protocols including Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS), Layer 3 Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), IPv6, and Multicast.  Doris provides design, testing, and troubleshooting for the vBNS+ and assists customers with network implementation issues.

Prior to joining Verizon Business in 1999, Doris was a senior network engineer for Houston Associates, Inc (HAI), a Raytheon company. During her six years at HAI she led a group of network engineers and was responsible for developing test plans, test reports, and implementation plans for the Defense Simulation Internet, a Department of Defense private network that supported real-time video and simulation applications, and provided multiple levels of security using encryption devices to separate classes of traffic.  She also provided operations and customer support, and assisted in network management.

Ms. Peel holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and a Master of Science degree in Telecommunications Management from Oklahoma State University.  She has received several vendor certifications and has spoken at the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).
