Engineers Make a World of Difference

Allison Pedersen

Allison PedersenAllison Pedersen has been an active Society of Women Engineers (SWE) member for over 10 years.  Her love of outreach activities began with her being the Outreach Chair for the University of North Dakota-SWE section.  Since graduating from UND with a bachelors of science in Electrical Engineering in 1998, Allison has been active in the SWE-Minnesota section.  Within SWE-MN, she has held numerous positions on the Executive Council and also has been a member of the SWE-MN Career Guidance Committee for over 5 years.  This year, Allison applied for and was selected to fill her “dream position” as the Society’s Career Guidance Chair.  In this position she is overseeing several SWE national outreach programs, such as Wow! That’s Engineering!, Agilent AfterSchool Kits, and the Hoffman Program.  Besides her involvement with SWE, Allison works at Goodrich Corporation as a Project Lead on two airspace products.  Allison is excited to be with us today to share information on what parents can do to encourage girls who enjoy math and science and influence students to consider engineering as an exciting career option.
