Audrey Ellerbee
Audrey Ellerbee graduated from Princeton Unviersity in 2001 with a BSE in Electrical Engineering, where she was a two-time All-American rugby player and former rower. While at Princeton she was also an active member of the National Society of Black Engineers, serving on both local chapter and regional executive boards. After graduation, Ms. Ellerbee spent one year teaching in the Department of Infocommunications Technology at Ngee Ann Polytechnic in Singapore through the Princeton-in-Asia program. She subsequently enrolled at Duke, where she is a 5th year doctoral candidate in the department of Biomedical Engineering.
A recipient of the University Scholar Award, which recognizes incoming students with a strong interest in interdisciplinary research, Ms. Ellerbee's present research interests are in the area of biomedical optics. At Duke, Ms. Ellerbee is the current President of the Graduate and Professional Student Council, and is a concurrent member of the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association, the President's Council on Black Affairs, and the Board of Trustees' Committee on Institutional Advancement, among a host of other committee appointments, community service, and leadership roles. Most recently, she received the Golden Torch Award for "Graduate Student of the Year" from the National Society of Black Engineers in recognition of her academic achievement and service to the university community. Outside of her co-curricular pursuits, Ms. Ellerbee is an avid linguist, Latin dancer, roller skater, and world traveler. |
