Engineers Make a World of Difference

Second Annual 24-hour Global Marathon

For most current schedule, click here.
Participation details will also be posted here as available.

Save the date for the second “Global Marathon For, By and About Women in Engineering.” The marathon begins at noon EST on March 23, 2006, and concludes at noon EST on March 24. The marathon is an outgrowth of “Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day” and coincides with Women’s History Month.

Topics will range from how to select an engineering college (for parents, counselors and students) to “A Discussion on Motivator/DeMotivators to “able” Young Women Pursuing Math, Engineering and Technology,” for anyone working with young women for academic success. College students can learn what employers are looking for, how to find, select and make the most of an internship, and learn from practicing engineers “What I know now that I wish I’d known in college.” There will be inspiration for a variety of audiences in discussing engineering to help women in developing countries. Parents and educators can get tips on making math fun for even the youngest students from outreach staff with the popular television show “Cyberchase.”  See the developing list of presentations.

You’ll join conversations by Internet or telephone.

If there are topics you would like to see scheduled or, if you are interested in becoming a presenter, please contact us at eweek@nspe.org, subject line: Global Marathon.
