Valley Chapter Celebrates National Engineering Week by Sponsoring Exposition
New City,
NY. - The Rockland County Chapter of the National Society of Professional
Engineers (NSPE) and the Lower Hudson Valley Chapter of the American Society
of Civil Engineers (ASCE), announced that they have joined to celebrate
National Engineering Week by sponsoring an Exposition (EXPO) at Dominican
College in Blauvelt on February 22, 2004 between 1 PM and 5 PM. The event
is open to the general public, with emphasis on high school students and
their families.
Dr. James
J. Yarmus, PE, F.ASCE, regional Vice-President of ASCE and Rockland Chapter
Director of NSPE is Chairman of the EXPO. He stated that more than a dozen
prominent Engineering schools and more than a dozen Engineering firms
will be at the EXPO. The Colleges and Universities will advise potential
students and their parents about careers in Engineering. “There
will also be interactive opportunities at exhibitors’ stations”.
Yarmus said. He added that a dozen firms will display their most prominent
projects and answer questions about employment in the Engineering profession.
Packy Lawler, PE President of the NSPE chapter and Richard Cassin, PE,
President of the ASCE branch will be available to explain their respective
programming for 2004. Yarmus indicated that elected officials will issue
Proclamations on the occasion of National Engineering Week and will present
several $1,000 scholarships to college bound Engineering students.

and NSPE are proud to present this opportunity to the public. We especially
thank Sister Kathleen Sullivan of Dominican College and Malcolm G. McLaren
of M. G. McLaren Engineering for all the time and effort they have dedicated
to this event”, said Yarmus.
