Emily Becker, P.E.

Emily Becker, P.E., is involved in all facets of water and wastewater systems from master planning to design and permitting. She has performed construction observation on numerous projects including a large regional storm water detention and water quality pond, rehabilitation of a County Park water system, and upgrades to a wastewater treatment system in a mountain resort development.

Emily is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and of Engineers Without Borders. While at the University of Colorado, Emily traveled to Peru to work with a small community in need of a clean and reliable water supply. The project included site selection and design of a hand-pumped well and included public health and community outreach components. She continues to actively participate in Engineers without Borders events.

Abbie Adams, P.E., C.E.M., M.B.A.

Abbie Adams, P.E., C.E.M., M.B.A., a trained mechanical engineer, began her career at EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. in 2003. She now manages $1 million in engineering projects supporting the $4 billion Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) program at U.S. Army Post Fort Belvoir.

She utilizes her exceptional skills to mentor the next generation of engineers and to benefit underprivileged children. She coaches junior staff, providing leadership and teaching engineering skills. For four years, she has chaired Day with an Engineer for the local SAME post, connecting 100 high-school students with engineers to shadow for a day.

Katharine (Kat) Duitsman, P.E.

Katharine (Kat) Duitsman, P.E., is one of the rising talents at Felsburg Holt & Ullevig who provides engineering solutions to address increased traffic congestion. Kat is early in her career, but has already been active on projects that will soon directly benefit thousands of Colorado citizens. Much of Kat's work is concentrated along I-225, a vital highway that serves the Denver metro area and is a primary route to and from Denver International Airport. She is currently on a project team working on designs to widen a segment of I-225 and extend light rail in the corridor and was also a member of the I-225/Colfax Interchange project team. The new I-225/Colfax interchange will improve the commutes to a regional medical hub for the thousands of commuters who need reliable and safe access to these medical facilities as well as neighboring businesses, schools, and neighborhoods.

In addition to her professional contributions, Kat has volunteered her time to promote engineering as a career. Kat is involved in an outreach program, Girls Exploring Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (GESTEM). Kat has visited with 6th, 7th, and 8th graders, where she explained what her job as a transportation engineer entails through hands-on activities, such a workshop where the girls designed a road that had to consider impacts to the environment and wildlife.

Ryan Sisson, P.E.

Ryan Sisson, P.E., is a Project Manager with Bohannan Huston's (BHI) transportation engineering team. His project experience includes working with clients throughout Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona, such as, Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), City of Albuquerque, Los Alamos National Laboratories, and various private clients. Most recently, he completed construction plans for a box culvert extension and Saint Anthony’s Falls Energy Dissipater (SAF) on State Highway 392, the first design of its kind for CDOT. He filled multiple project roles throughout its life cycle including project manager, structural/hydraulic/roadway design engineer, and drafting technician.

Ryan is also actively involved with the local community as the ASCE-CO Transportation & Development Institute Group Chair, a member of Engineers Without Borders, and a member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers.
