A Binghamton University grad student is the first person in the US to receive the
Institute of Engineering and Technology 2007's Mike Sargeant Award.
The international recognition is given to the young professional who made the
most progress in his or her career over a certain number of years. BU doctoral
student Guru Madhavan was presented with the award in London on November
13th. Madhavan is currently working on improving blood circulation throughout
the body with a non-invasive stimulation system.
Guru Madhavan, BU Grad student says, "One important thing that I want to
mention, is that Binghamton doesn't think problems as problems but we take
problems as opportunities and I think that really puts a different spin on the way
we approach research." Madhavan says his research could help prevent osteoporosis, heart problems and
certain mental health conditions.
