| National Engineers Week Presents the New Faces of Engineering. Jamesia Hobbs

Jamesia Hobbs, a chemical engineer with CH2M HILL, is an experienced engineer with exposure across several industries, including pulp and paper, chemicals, polymers, and nuclear energy. She has been involved in planning and coordinating projects, managing people, and process design. In addition, she has served in leadership roles in Omega Chi Epsilon National Chemical Engineering Honor Society and the Society of Women Engineers. While interning for Chemical Industry Leader, Ms. Hobbs was the first in the history of her project to create a plastic coating that was both completely/partially ductile and abrasion resistant.
Outside of work, Ms. Hobbs stays involved with her community, acting as a Hands On Atlanta volunteer, a volunteer mentor and educational development committee member for the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and a special events committee member for the N.C. A&T State University Alumnae Chapter.
“I became an engineer because I wanted to do something that touched people’s lives, whether they realized it or not,” says Hobbs. “I put 100 percent forward in everything I do and am most satisfied with any job done right."
Ms. Hobbs graduated summa cum laude from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University, in Greensboro, North Carolina, with a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering, and earned a certificate in executive leadership from Cornell University, New York.
