Omar Damluji, E.I.T.Omar Damluji, E.I.T.

Omar Damluji, E.I.T., is working as a process improvement engineer with BAE Systems. He was originally hired as a systems engineer, but was soon transferred when his eye and passion for waste reduction, quality, and improving systems became evident to management. Previous work has included using the design process and industrial and systems engineering techniques to benefit the San Diego Food Bank’s salvage and sorting processes. He has also worked for Hamilton Sundstrand in their repair facility, where he aided in the implementation of lean tools such as taping off work areas, shadowboxing for tools and engine components, and new visual displays.

Damluji recently graduated cum laude from the University of San Diego with a bachelor’s degree in industrial and systems engineering. While at the university, he served as president and vice president of the local IIE chapter, as well as headed both engineering honor societies.

Jun ZhuangJun Zhuang

Jun Zhuang, Ph.D, is an assistant professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Buffalo. His research interests and contributions include Operations Research, Decision and Risk Analysis, Stochastic Programming and Game Theory as applied to things like homeland security, transportation and supply chain management. His research has been supported by the Department of Homeland Security through the Center for Risk and Economic Analysis of Terrorism Events (CREATE) and the Center for Human Performance and Risk Analysis (CHPRA). In addition, Zhuang has made significant and important research contributions in the topic of “Balancing Terrorism and Natural Disasters Through a Defensive Strategy” with results appearing in a publication in the premier journal Operations Research. He was previously featured as the “Extreme Engineer of the Month” by the Pre-Engineering Times, a publication of the Junior Engineering Technical Society (JETS).

Zhuang recently graduated with his doctorate in industrial engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is a member of the Sigma Xi honorary society.

Lindsey K. KirtleyLindsey K. Kirtley

Lindsey K. Kirtley, a consultant with Accenture in San Francisco, California, is currently leading testing and deployment of a supply chain optimization project which is implementing modeling software to optimize the schedule in a non-discreet manufacturing facility, and blend components based on dynamic pricing to save the company both time and money. In the past, she has spent two years on one of the largest global Enterprise Resource Planning implementations within the energy industry, during which time she traveled to Brazil, the Philippines, and South Africa. One main focus of this role was to streamline the current testing processes and continuously seek out process efficiencies as adapting to ever-changing business and technical environments.

Kirtley holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial and systems engineering from Ohio State University. Lindsey.k.kirtley@accenture.com

Christopher Reid,Christopher Reid, Ph.D.

Christopher Reid, Ph.D., is an ergonomics intern at Boeing Commercial Airplanes, and is pursuing his doctoral degree in industrial engineering at the University of Central Florida. His doctoral dissertation research focuses on knee risk factors, risk exposure levels of occupational tasks and jobs, and biomechanical factors that can provide valuable insight into risk level and future injury avoidance in occupational settings. He has written several technical papers and conducted numerous presentations in the area of Lower Extremity Risk Assessments and Ergonomics. Reid is currently researching and developing a full lower extremity risk model that could provide a more accurate measure of occupational and individual employee risk.

Reid holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering technology and a master’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Central Florida. He is an active member of several industry associations and the Delta Epsilon Iota Honor Society.
