Marie Baker, EIT
Marie Baker, EIT, a civil engineer with Ulteig Engineers, Inc. in Fargo, North Dakota,
develops plans and specifications, construction cost estimating, and construction observation.
She has worked on various traffic analysis operations, design and inspection of federally funded highway and airport projects, site designs, sewer, water and storm sewer designs. Baker has been the resident engineer on projects with construction costs ranging from $200,000 to $5,000,000.
Baker is an energetic advocate for young women who are considering becoming engineers. She is involved in a program called, “Expanding Your Horizons”, a day of math/science related seminars for 7th through 9th grade girls held at the North Dakota State University campus. Baker serves on the board of directors for the Fargo-Moorhead Engineers Club, which is Chapter 4 of the North Dakota Society of Professional Engineers. She currently serves as the chapter secretary.

Laura Arline Gerold, P.E.
Laura Arline Gerold, P.E., a water resources engineer in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin office of Tetra Tech MPS, designs a wide variety of water resources and storm water management systems.
After graduation from Michigan Technological University, Gerold accepted a position with Tetra Tech MPS. Gerold works on both low impact development design and watercourse rehabilitation. In both endeavors Gerold involves the use of innovative “green” technologies and design approaches that represent an environmentally friendly approach to urban redevelopment.
A project of interest that utilized an environmentally friendly design was one for the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District. This work has included a storm water management design for the African American World Cultural Center, and watercourse rehabilitation designs for over one mile of Underwood Creek, located in a highly urbanized area of Milwaukee.

Craig Ullman, P.E.
Craig Ullman, P.E., a water resource engineer with Applegate Group, Inc. in Westminster, Colorado, has extensive knowledge of hydraulic and hydrologic modeling along with innovate infrastructure design.
Ullman uses a practical approach when solving difficult problems. He constructed a device to inspect dam outlet pipes using a standard video camera. He is involved in all aspects of project management from proposal preparation and contract negotiations, budget management, client communications, bid procurement, to construction coordination.
In addition to his work with Applegate, Ullman has traveled to Africa to help design an orphanage in an area impacted by AIDS. He also serves as the Boulder, Colorado Chapter MATHCOUNTS Coordinator.

Kawika Uyehara, P.E.
Kawika Uyehara, P.E., a senior project engineer with SSFM International, Inc. in Hilo, Hawaii, manages all civil engineering design projects on the “Big Island“.
Since joining SSFM International, Inc., Uyehara has been working on a variety of challenging site civil engineering projects. He was responsible for the civil engineering design for a military firing range, which is a mission essential component for the new Stryker Brigade to be stationed in Hawaii. Uyehara was lead project engineer of the design team responsible for the preparation of final civil engineering construction documents for a new elementary school.
Uyeharra is active in his community and has provided pro bono engineering services to the Kinoole Baptist Church to support their efforts to convert a large capacity cesspool to an individual wastewater system in conformance with the Environmental Protection Agency regulations. He is also a member of the Hawaii Society of Professional Engineers.
