Diana
Bauer, Ph.D., an engineer at the US Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C., has crafted a research framework for environmental sustainability research, merging engineering with ecological, public health, economic, and social visions.
Bauer has worked on developing the next generation of multidisciplinary research relating to engineering through the National Science Foundation’s Next Generation Materials Grand Environmental Challenge. Currently, she works for the Office of Research and Development, continuing her work on sustainability and moving industrial ecology practices forward in the EPA.
Nathan
Kimmerie, an engineer at Bayer CropScience in Institute, West Virginia, provides services to three North American facilities on process safety issues, including technical engineering issues such as performing safety studies, conducting audits, leading investigations, and responding to the Emergency Operations Center.
Kimmerie is also responsible for maintaining a process safety management system which includes establishing annual objectives and overseeing a plan involving several million dollars in capital projects. He has also developed several management tools such as a process safety training course and a behavior-based safety observation card.
