| A Hands-On Approach To Discover"E" Your Discover"E" program is an opportunity for students and teachers to gain hands-on math and science experiences by working with someone who uses those subjects every day. That someone is you. The most successful Discover"E" programsthose that truly make an impression on studentsinclude interactive projects. The National Engineers Week Committee is providing four for 2008. See also the archives for activities from other years. Activities can be photocopied and distributed not only to participating engineers but to teachers and leaders of Scout troops as well as other student organizations. Work through any activity before presenting it in class. All of the following activities can be accomplished in one class period and require simple, inexpensive materials. Whether you use one of these activitiesor develop one of your owndiscuss your ideas with your teacher(s) to be sure the project is appropriate for the class. The National Engineers Week Committee is looking for creative and tested classroom ideas that can be compiled into a resource booklet to be made available for a future National Engineers Week. Your idea can help others and become part of a national program. Entries will not be returned and authors of those activities selected will be notified. Send your project ideas to the committee at 1420 King Street, Alexandria, Virginia 22314. You will need the FREE Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print actiivity files.
