John Browne is Group Chief Executive of BP p.l.c.

Prior to his present appointment, in 1989 he became Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BP Exploration based in London . In September 1991, he joined the Board of The British Petroleum Company p.l.c. as a Managing Director. He was appointed Group Chief Executive on June 10, 1995 . Following the merger of BP and Amoco, he became Group Chief Executive of BP Amoco on December 31, 1998 .

Joining BP in 1966 as a university apprentice, he initially held a variety of exploration and production posts in Anchorage , New York , San Francisco , London and Canada between 1969 and 1983. In 1984 he became Group Treasurer and Chief Executive of BP Finance International. He subsequently served in various management positions.

Active in a variety of business and professional organizations, he is also Chairman of the International Advisory Board of the School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University , and Emeritus Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Stanford Graduate School of Business. In 1999 the Royal Academy of Engineering awarded him the Prince Philip Medal for his outstanding contribution to the field of engineering. He was voted Most Admired CEO by Management Today from 1999 – 2002.

He was knighted in 1998 and made a life peer in 2001.

Victoria Rockwell is Senior Manager of investment development with Air Liquide America LP in Houston , Texas , where she has lived and worked for the past 9 years. Previously, Ms. Rockwell held project management, supervisory, and engineering positions at Air Liquide Process and Construction, Hoechst Celanese Corporation’s Specialty Chemicals Division in Charlotte , N.C. , and at Union Carbide Corporation’s Linde Division in Tonawanda , N.Y.

With more than 25 years of engineering experience, Ms. Rockwell holds bachelors of science degrees in mathematics and applied science from Empire State College and in mechanical engineering from Union College , both in New York . A Fellow of ASME, Ms. Rockwell currently is a Senior Vice President of ASME , chairing the Council on Public Affairs and is a past vice president of ASME’s Board on Public Information. She has represented ASME on the Engineers Week Steering Committee for the past six years. She has been chair of the Committee on the Public Awareness of Engineering for the American Association of Engineering Societies and received the AAES Chair’s Award in 2002.

In addition to her work for ASME, Ms. Rockwell has served in a volunteer capacity in a number of organizations, including the United Way , Boy Scouts of America and Business and Professional Women. She is currently a member of Women’s Energy Network of Houston.
